I have ideas for some stories for grownups, but I don't know when I'll start on any of those. Writing for kids is way more fun!
If you're a writer looking for tips, the best tips I got were from Jane Yolen - BIC HOP - which means "butt-in-chair" and "heart-on-page". As her book says, "take joy in your craft".
Stephen King says pretty much the same thing, but his rule golden rule is "read constantly and write constantly". And again, "write with joy". Because if you're writing only to get published or to make money, you could be quite miserable and disappointed.
I have been to one workshop to learn storytelling, so this is still a work in progress. I hope to develop a portfolio of stories that I can take to schools, libraries, and other centres where kids may gather.
